A Thursday night. And a drink bought without checking: &#8220;Was I asked for my ID? No. I was told: &#8216;It&#8217;s for my brother&#8217;s birthday'&#8221;. This extract, taken during a control operation, reveals an alarming fact: the ban on the sale of alcohol to minors does exist&#8230; but all too often it remains a dead letter.  <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A clear ban, but little enforcement<\/h2>\n\n<p>The rule is unequivocal: any sale of alcoholic beverages to minors under the age of 18 is prohibited. <a href=\"https:\/\/sante.gouv.fr\/IMG\/pdf\/affiche_a4_debits_de_boissons_a_consommer_sur_place.pdf?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sant\u00e9 et Autonomie+2L\u00e9gifrance+2<\/a><br\/>However, on the ground, compliance with this law leaves something to be desired.<br\/>Revelation surveys carried out among supermarket chains show that a majority still sell alcohol to minors without requiring proof of age. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.economiematin.fr\/alcool-mineurs-vente-interdiction-supermarche-sante?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Economiematin+2blog.addictions-france.org+2<\/a><br\/>This situation begs the question: who, in the shops or bars, is really responsible for checking proof of age? Many let it go.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The role of cashiers and the pressure of commerce<\/h2>\n\n<p>When a young person pays for an \u20ac8 bottle, with a bag or a can, the question arises: should the cashier systematically check?<br\/>The legal answer is yes.<br\/>But the reality in the field is different. The pressure of the flow, the appearance of the customer, the speed of the purchase&#8230; too many factors encourage inaction.<br\/>The French Public Health Code imposes an obligation: &#8220;The person issuing the drink requires the customer to produce proof of his majority.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legifrance.gouv.fr\/codes\/id\/LEGISCTA000006171207?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">L\u00e9gifrance<\/a><br\/>And yet: few controls, limited sanctions, less vigilance. <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When selling alcohol to minors becomes a public health issue<\/h2>\n\n<p>Alcohol consumption among young people, when it starts early, has lasting effects: learning disorders, altered brain maturation, increased risk of dependence. <a href=\"https:\/\/addictions-france.org\/actualites\/des-geants-de-la-grande-distribution-aux-bars-de-quartiers-tous-hors-la-loi-pour-la-vente-dalcool-aux-mineurs-12204\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Addictions France+1<\/a><br\/>A 15-year-old who freely buys a &#8220;recreational&#8221; drink is already on the road to becoming a potentially alcohol-dependent adult.<br\/>However, few establishments are sanctioned on a long-term basis. Reporting remains low, as do prosecutions.<br\/>This leads to the alarming observation that implementation of the law remains an adjustment variable. Meanwhile, young people are paying the price.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Act before it&#8217;s too late<\/h2>\n\n<p>If you are a parent, teacher or business owner, this fact should not paralyze you, but rather mobilize you.<br\/>Here are a few practical suggestions:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Introduce systematic age verification in all shops.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Train teams to spot risky behavior: late purchases, visible bags, group purchases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Talk to young people. Explain that alcohol is not just a &#8220;party&#8221;, but a product that changes everything: body, brain, life. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offer alcohol-free alternatives so that the pleasure remains, but without the risks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Shops too have a role to play: reminding people of the rules, clearly displaying the ban, refusing to sell to a young person without proof of age. It&#8217;s a question of collective responsibility. <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A shared responsibility<\/h2>\n\n<p>Selling alcohol to minors is not just an individual failure.<br\/>It&#8217;s a collective failure: distribution, legislation, supervision, education.<br\/>Every player has a role to play: from the cashier who has to ask for his ID card, to the manager who has to train his team, to the community which has to monitor.<br\/>And right up to the parent who has to talk to his child about this gesture which can slide into addiction.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n<p>Trade and the law are today out of balance.<br\/>Selling alcohol to a minor should no longer be the slightest offence: it&#8217;s a major risk to public health.<br\/>Acting to ensure that the law doesn&#8217;t remain a mere display: it&#8217;s everyone&#8217;s responsibility.<br\/>Because behind every drink sold too early, a life can be turned upside down.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mylasertabac.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/mlt-verteau.svg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A clear ban, but little enforcement The rule is unequivocal: any sale of alcoholic beverages to minors under the age of 18 is prohibited.
