Is it possible to vape freely on a bus, train or metro in France? Current regulations provide a clear answer: certain prohibitions apply, subject to penalties. This ban concerns closed and covered <strong>premises<\/strong> accessible to the <strong>public<\/strong>, such as <strong>schools<\/strong>, <strong>work<\/strong> spaces and places receiving the <strong>public<\/strong>. The aim of these regulations is to limit passive <strong>smoking<\/strong> and prevent <strong>minors<\/strong> from using nicotine <strong>products<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Vaping is strictly prohibited:<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:38px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In <strong>covered transport systems<\/strong> such as <strong>buses, subways and trains<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inside <strong>stations<\/strong>, railway <strong>establishments<\/strong> and metro stations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On planes, where the ban is even stricter and enforced by an international <strong>code<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Enforcement <strong>officers<\/strong> are responsible for enforcing this ban, and can issue fines to offenders.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where is it still legal to vape on public transport?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p>Some exceptions still exist, allowing the use of <strong>electronic<\/strong> cigarettes in certain areas. It is possible to smoke : <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In <strong>outdoor areas<\/strong> such as uncovered train platforms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the open air in certain <strong>stations<\/strong>, outside the areas covered by the 2016 <strong>decree<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In reserved areas, sometimes set up by certain transport <strong>establishments<\/strong> to allow users to consume their <strong>products<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>However, the internal <strong>regulations<\/strong> of some transport companies can be even more restrictive. It is therefore advisable to find out before vaping in these areas. <\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are the penalties for non-compliance?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fines and risks for offenders<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p>Users who vapotage in a prohibited area are liable to a fixed <strong>fine<\/strong> of up to <strong>150 euros<\/strong>. This penalty applies in all <strong>establishments<\/strong> where the use of <strong>electronic<\/strong> cigarettes is prohibited by law. Enforcement <strong>officers<\/strong> are responsible for ensuring compliance with the <strong>code<\/strong>, and can issue immediate fines to offenders.  <\/p>\n\n<p>In some cases, penalties can be increased, particularly if a vapoteur reoffends or refuses to cooperate with enforcement <strong>officers<\/strong>. Other countries such as Australia and Canada apply even stricter <strong>regulations<\/strong>, completely banning the consumption of <strong>e-cigarettes<\/strong> in all public places, including outdoors.
